JOB DESCRIPTION

THE POSITION

The Duty Manager is responsible for supporting the Venue Manager in the daily operations of the venue helping to ensure a successful and profitable business and maintain a positive, fun, and strong bond between the team.

The Duty Manager is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Opening and closing the venue and completing shift reports on your own (there are no cash up procedures involved)
  • Leading staff on shifts and delegating tasks to ensure everyone is busy.
  • Controlling and managing staffing costs while on shift by organising break times and cutting hours where necessary.
  • Ensuring on busy days the venue is in line with compliance and house policy and following regulations to ensure a safe environment for staff and patrons and adhering to licensing laws.
  • Managing customers expectations and ensuring any complaints and or feedback is addressed and noted.
  • Ensuring a harmonious relationship between FOH AND BOH and liaising with the head chef on all service aspects where necessary.
  • Training staff on procedure within the venue.

REQUIREMENTS

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

A successful applicant for the Duty Manager position will demonstrate:

  • experience in high volume, busy pub environment preferred.
  • experience in leading a team of 20 or more staff.
  • strong leadership & people management skills.
  • hold a valid RSA.
  • ability to handle pressure and think on your feet in a fast-paced work environment.
  • conflict resolution skills.
  • initiative on quieter days to ensure high productivity in staff.
  • self-motivated and customer-focused.
  • ability to work autonomously.
  • flexible schedule availability in accordance with business needs (weekends, public holidays, on-call etc.).

 

IT'S A BONUS IF...

  • you have any prior large-scale event experience or have dealt with liquor licensing in a large venue or event situation.
  • you have worked with software such as Square, Cooking The Books, Mr Yum and deputy previously.
  • you have prior experirence or are passionate about HR and staff development.
